Modified PTFE offers many advantages over PTFE. Lower deformation under load, better fatigue performance, easier to weld, better transparency, higher elongation and higher dielectric strength. Modified PTFE, like PTFE, has excellent chemical resistance and a very low coefficient of friction.
When stored in normal warehouse conditions, all PTFE and Rulon materials have an unlimited shelf life. In fact, a common industry joke is that, at 85 years and counting, PTFE has “not been around long enough” to determine how long it will last!
In this example, when the part is heated from 77°F/25°C to 392°F/200°C, at the upper end of the temperature range the PTFE component will grow approximately 24 mm longer than the mating metal part.
Ceramic-coated pans have a non-stick surface that is free from PFOA and PTFE, the potentially harmful chemicals found in Teflon. They are generally considered safe and provide good non-stick properties. However, the durability of the ceramic coating can vary, and it may wear off over time.
